There I was minding my own business...

... when up pops Sue with her brand new Blog, so now I have to have a blog, don't I?  Can't be outdone by the Robster...

Went to the market this morning to buy 'im a pair of slippers.  Get half way up the hill, when we both realise we haven't enough cash on us, so stop at the ATM only to find that it's out of service.  We go to the next one, and it wants €8 commission!  Finally we turn the car round (amidst much swearing, and short-lived intentions to phone the bank in the morning to complain about the ATM), and go back home to collect more funds.  Dogs throw themselves at us in sheer delight that we haven't been very long, and we leave with their disappointed little faces etched on our overworked guilt receptors.

Finally at the market, we buy a new rug,  various household items, plus breakfast in the shape of bacon rolls, spending in the region of €100, but despite passing numerous slipper stalls, nothing meets the demanding standards of my hubby. He wants to look again next week, but this time I'm going to pay attention to the signs and not take more money than I need for the slippers.

Rug looks nice though...

  1. So...competition eh?!

You're right about the signs though. What more did you want - an old ragged woman on a corner, pointing her clawed finger at you and saying 'Go back now while you still have the rent'?

Glad the rug looks good. Perhaps in the colder weather 'im indoors can wrap his poor chilblained feet in it to keep warm...

  2. Personally, I think the ragged old woman pointing (ala the wicked witch in Snow White) is a perfectly wonderful idea :)

  3. Actually, I think I saw her this morning, but thought it was one of my neighbours. I'll pay more attention in future...
